Maintain our Identity
The new city will have legal boundaries that
will protect our area from being annexed to
neighboring cities. Our community will preserve
our local heritage and identity.
Local Control
Decisions are made by a locally elected
five-member city council that is willing to
propose and implement policies based upon the
priorities of local residents, and is only
accountable to the residents of the new city.
Keeping our sales tax dollars local means the
millions of dollars in tax revenue from sales
tax, a portion property taxes, motor vehicle
fees and franchise fees that currently go to the
county would now remain in the city.
Prioritizing Public Safety
One of the key reasons for becoming a city is
the ability to set our own level of services.
Improving the level of city services such as law
enforcement, emergency response services and
traffic control will be determined by those
priorities set by the residents. The locally
elected city council will decide priority
expenditures of the community's tax dollars,
rather than the county spending these funds.
Accountability from a Five Member City
Council
Currently, our area is generally represented by
one county official. Residents would vote for
and elect a five-member city council to provide
representation for issues that are important to
you. The five-member council would be
accountable to residents in the new city, giving
greater access and a stronger voice to the
Menifee area.
Improve our Quality of Life
The new city will enhance our quality of life by
attracting quality jobs, retail opportunities
and improve critical public safety services,
making it a great city in which to live, work
and raise a family. Local decisions will be made
by locally-elected officials. This provides for
the greatest opportunity for both business
community and residents to work together to
provide for the best economic development and
public service plan for the community. This will
foster the long-term success of the business
community, while maintaining the exceptional
quality of life currently enjoyed by the
residents today.
